Spring Retreat 2022

Spring Retreat 2022

$2,500.00

Co-taught by Book Development Expert Leigh Stein and Creative Story Specialist Molly Rosen Guy, this weekend intensive is for nonfiction writers at any stage of the drafting process in search of a container to hold the true story they can’t stop thinking about. Over the course of one weekend, students will learn to see their work-in-progress from a reader’s point of view, as they clarify the concept for the book they want to write, organize their material into a clear outline, and discover the secret to a gripping opening chapter. Leigh will guide students to see their own memoirs in a more prismatic way, opening up possibilities for further exploration and discovery, and will also discuss what literary agents are looking for. Each student will have a 30-minute private consult with Leigh about their book concept and ideate their stories with Molly in a cozy, sun-drenched Tribeca apartment. Nooks, healthy meals, coffee + creative community included.

By the end of the weekend, students will have

* a tight, compelling pitch for the book they’re working on

* a better understanding of the market for memoir and why agents are looking for memoir plus

* an outline of their book and a roadmap for moving forward

* a strong opening chapter with a hook
